Hard to believe – a half century flies by.
Welcome to FB Lite and a stark realisation.
Whilst on a recent holiday in the Middle East, somewhat extended due to the conflict, I found myself, whilst enjoying a beachside cocktail, realising that this month marks 50 years since I became employed by Aston Martin and started a career, dealing in Aston Martin cars. It has been an interesting journey and I’ve a myriad of memories, anecdotes and snippets I’ll be sharing in the coming months, a personal account of the highs and lows, some recollections of the more interesting characters I’ve met and much more, whilst enjoying a privileged 50-year career in the Aston Martin sphere.
Surprising also, was the realisation that 25 years have now passed, since the Vanquish nomenclature was first used on a pivotal Aston Martin model, in 2001.
Crossing the divide between truly coach-built and productionised manufacture, a result of then owners the Ford Motor Co’s commitment to the future of the brand, the low volume 1st generation Vanquish was a significant and technological break-through and remains an important, stunningly handsome and purposeful model in AM’s timeline. With timeless appeal and a level of competence and performance, still considered more than adequate today, particularly in the ‘S’ model form.
A bedrock of our sales, service and maintenance operations, in celebration of the Vanquish, we will be hosting a homage at our next Ten – Two Club event on May 16th, in honour of this milestone model. A display of Vanquish cars through the years, owners and special guests will be attending, refreshments flowing and our paddock brimming with interesting cars, adding another level of interest to our first Ten-Two Club social event of the year.
I hope you continue to enjoy our insight into the Aston Martin world, we live and breath. This issue includes information on up-coming events, latest and currently available stock, YouTube video’s you might have missed and our AstonStore parts and merchandise operation.
For now, we wish all our customers and subscribers a wonderful Easter weekend.
