1969 Aston Martin DB6 Volante

A late model DB6 Volante, built and delivered in April 1969 to first owners, Suede & Leathercraft Ltd in London E1. Equipped with factory fitted options of Power assisted steering, Chrome wire wheels with 3 eared hub caps, front seat belts and a power operated aerial.

Comprehensively restored between 2009 & 2010, by highly respected Aston Martin specialist restorers, this delightful and attractively specified DB6 Volante is finished in Cornish Bronze with a Fawn hide interior and Black mohair type hood covering, to the power operated roof.

Available for the first time in 14 years, during which time this car been regularly driven and kept in ideal climatic conditions, when not being driven to car events or exercised on the open road. Having now covered circa 6,000 miles since the restoration, maintenance over the last 14 years of ownership has been carried out regularly by ourselves for the last renowned classic and sports car collector, on a ‘no expense spared’ basis.

The extensive restoration, carried out between 2009 -2010, included the matching number engine being rebuilt to 4.2 litre and lead-free fuel specifications and fitment of a correct specification ZF 5 speed manual transmission, a complete overhaul of the suspension, brakes and electrics, and new balanced clutch assembly. Additionally, a body restoration and bare metal re-paint, a complete interior re-trim, a new mohair type hood and re-chrome plating of all exterior and interior brightwork was simultaneously carried out, all to manufacturer standards. Post restoration, a further bare metal re-paint was commissioned in 2021 to a period correct Aston Martin colour, the discerning owner’s colour of choice.

With circa 6,000 miles having been covered since the detailed restoration, this fully sorted and superbly driving example of the attractive and well-proportioned DB6 Volante, last purchased from ourselves in 2011, has been maintained, much cherished and greatly enjoyed by its long-term owner. When not being driven, the car has been kept in an idyllic environment, when not being enjoyed in dry weather conditions only.

1 of just 140 manufactured, this one toward the end of the models production life, the DB6 Volante’s generous cabin and boot space, power operated convertible roof and prodigious performance, proved popular in period and remains a compelling and rare proposition today, in offering the combination of high performance convertible motoring with ample accommodation, for four people and their luggage.

Inclusive of a leather-bound history file containing restoration details and photographs, maintenance details and MoT certificates, supporting the 63k miles recorded on the odometer. 2000 ASTON MARTIN V8 VANTAGE VOLANTE 'SPECIAL EDITION' SHORT CHASSIS

Finished in Rolls Royce Royal Blue with Parchment and Pacific Blue hides and matching hood. Equipped with all factory V600 power, transmission, suspension, braking options and Nardi wood-rimmed steering wheel.

Similar in appearance to the 1997-99 model year V8 Volante’s, the special edition supercharged Vantage Volante’s were uniquely constructed on the shorter wheelbase chassis architecture and mechanical specification, of the then production Supercharged V550 Vantage Coupe.

This exclusive model became known within Aston Martin as the ‘Short Chassis’ Vantage Volante, due to the chassis itself having a 200-mm / 7.8-inch shorter wheelbase and similarly shorter in overall length, than the production V8 Volante of the day.

The Vantage Volante ‘Special Edition’ is 1 of a series of 8 manufactured and delivered to persistent VIP clients in period, who’s deep pockets and determination, ultimately convinced Aston Martin to build and supply these ultimate Vantage Volante’s. Each car was individually specified by their selected lucky owners, with just 5 examples eventually being constructed in RHD to UK specifications and 3 built in LHD, for export markets.

The highly specified and tastefully finished example, we are delighted to offer, was completed and signed off by Newport Pagnell’s dedicated build team, before being delivered to its first owner in July 2000. Subsequently, all servicing and maintenance has been carried out by Aston Martin Works in Newport Pagnell, where the car was constructed and on one occasion, by Aston Martin Mayfair.

Purchased from its second owner in 2005, the new long-standing Aston Martin enthusiast owner, instructed Aston Martin Works to complete a full programme of factory V600 upgrades, concurrently with carrying out a comprehensive maintenance service, regardless of the low mileage covered. Some 12 manufacturer scheduled services have been carried out to date, over the limited 3,800 miles the car has now covered in total. When not in use on the roads, the car has been kept in ideal garaging, whilst being regularly run and attended to by professionals.

A complete leather-bound history file accompanies the car, which includes a dedicated Aston Martin produced photographic build book, a CEO signed and slip case protected build certificate, the original owners handbook with stamped service pages, copies of service and maintenance invoices and related documentation. Also included, is the original manufacturer supplied tool roll, vehicle jack, warning triangle and spare keys along with an attractive, model relevant, cherished registration number. In unblemished and concours condition, this exceptionally rare V8 Vantage Volante ‘Special Edition’, equipped with the renowned 600 bhp and 600 ft/lb’s of torque, twin supercharged V8 engine and associated upgrades, symbolises a pinnacle of Aston Martin achievement in period, being manufactured as the coach building era of production drew to a close, at the Newport Pagnell factory in 2000.

1960 Aston Martin DB4 GT

We are delighted to offer this sensational DB4 GT, finished in Aston Martin Sea Green with VM3253 Connolly Green hides, as it was when delivered new, in October 1960, to its first owner, a garage proprietor based in North Wales. This superb example of the rare and highly coveted DB4 GT, has an excellent history, been the recipient of a world class restoration and has covered only very limited mileage, since completion of the restoration in 2015.

Model Background:

Introduced in 1959 the DB4 GT, Aston Martin’s racing derivative of the DB4, was specifically engineered for competition purposes. With a shortened wheelbase and lightweight chassis, thin gauge aluminium body panels, a high-performance version of the famed Tadek Marek designed 6-cylinder Aston Martin engine, the GT was announced at the London Motor Show in 1959. Shortly after, the prototype DB4 GT (DP199) had been raced to victory and acquired a lap record, when being raced by the late Sir Stirling Moss in the DB4 GT’s debut race at Silverstone.

By the end of production in 1963, a total of only 75 DB4 GT’s had been built and delivered to enthusiast and motor sport minded owners, with many being raced on a Sunday and driven to the office on Monday.

The superbly restored example we are delighted to offer, was constructed and delivered in October 1960 to enthusiast John Wilkinson, a garage proprietor based in Wales, leaving the factory finished in Sea Green with House of Commons Green Connolly VM3253 hide interior. Maintained at the factories service department in Newport Pagnell, before passing through two owners between 1968 -1973, when the car entered the ownership of Simon Phillips, an accomplished UK based collector and intrepid racer, who’s motor sport career included competing in the Le Mans 24 Hrs race on multiple occasions.

After a short period in Australia between 1978 and 1988, this car was purchased by Nicholas Mee & Co from the Glenvarigill Motor Co of Scotland in 1994 and sold to the renowned Belgian car collector and gentleman historic racer, Hubert Fabri. Campaigned on the Tour Auto and raced in the Le Mans Classic and the Goodwood Revival races on multiple occasions, drivers included this DB4GT included the late Sir Stirling Moss and Sir Jack Brabham, both competing in Goodwood’s Tourist Trophy races.

Sold by Fabri in 2003 to Lord Drayson, a renowned businessman, Aston Martin Le Mans racing team owner and avid sports car racer, the car continued to be campaigned in top level Classic motorsport events, including at the Goodwood Revival, Spa Francorchamp, Silverstone and Donnington venues. Retired from racing duties by 2013, the car was purchased by a significant London based car collector, for a well-earned ‘World Class’ restoration, to its original specifications and to concours standards. The owners brief to the restorers being, to complete the restoration to a ‘100-point standard’. With a combination of the highly regarded services of Bodylines and Spray-tec restorations and renowned Aston Martin specialist engineers, the restoration was completed, and the car delivered, in 2015.

The highly detailed and expertly completed restoration works are detailed and well recorded photographically, on invoices and in correspondence, all contained within the history file accompanying the car. Having now covered just over 3,000 miles since the completed restoration, the car has on occasion been displayed in concours events, including at the 2020 edition of Salon Prive’s Concours d’ Elegance at Blenheim Palace, where this car won the coveted Duke of Marlborough award that year.

Sold, serviced and maintained by ourselves in more recent years, this sensational condition DB4 GT, finished in the model’s quintessential colour combination, is well recorded in the definitive DB4 GT publication by Palawan Press.

Currently presented with its front and rear bumper removed with bespoke hand made, colour coded bumper bungs discretely fitted, the bumpers are supplied with the car, remaining in immaculate condition.

A comprehensive history file accompanies the car, which is supplied fully serviced and ready to be enjoyed on the road or displayed, in Blue Riband concours events, along with a DB4GT book by Palawan Press.
