1988 Aston Martin V8 Volante EFi

Built and delivered in August 1988 via Aston Martin Sales, London to first owner in Bushey Heath, Hertfordshire. Finished in Cannock Black with Magnolia hide interior, Black everflex roof and Black Wilton Wool carpeting as retained today. Optioned with Automatic transmission and fitted with upgraded suspension, Vantage 16’’ wheel and tyre equipment. A late model V8 Volante EFi (1986-1989) equipped with Electronic Fuel Injection.


1 of only 2 UK specification examples of the Efi Volante to be delivered in Cannock Black, this striking, stylish and superbly maintained, late model example, has covered just 25,000 miles recorded from new. Fast becoming unrepeatable in this condition and with low mileage, some 38 years after production ceased. This superb example of the ‘last of line’ and highly refined V8 Volante, has an interesting former ownership record and a highly detailed service and maintenance history from new.


Maintained by Aston Martin in Newport Pagnell and renowned Aston Martin specialists, this exceptional V8 Volante was acquired when 5 years old by Mr Graham Cook, of Bramley nr Guildford in 2003, before being purchased Mr Steve O’Rourke, the renowned manager of progressive rock band The Pink Floyd. O’Rourke, also a keen amateur racing driver and team owner, competed in the Le Mans 24 hr races during the 1980’s, including with his own EMKA Group C sports racing car, powered by a race version of Aston Martin V8 engine as fitted to the V8 Volante. The EMKA Group C sportscar, still retains the accolade of being the last Aston Martin powered race car, to lead outright at the world-famous 24-hour endurance race.


Purchased by Nicholas Mee & Co in 2005 from the late Steve O’Rourke’s estate, this elegant car found a new home when purchased by the new owner’s wife and presented as a gift to her husband on his 50th birthday. The lucky recipient, Chairman of a global banking corporation, kept the car for 17 years, maintaining it annually with Nicholas Mee & Co, before the last owner purchased this extremely well documented preserved and maintained, low mileage example in 2022, from ourselves.


Consistently garaged in ideal conditions and sparingly used over its lifetime, this rarely specified example of the last and definitive specification Aston Martin V8 Volante, is an outstanding testament to the manufacturers renowned hand-built quality and its former owners care and maintenance regimes. Highly original other than the application of a suspension upgrade, fitment of Vantage 16” road wheels and a popular Nardi wood rimmed steering wheel. The removed original wheel is also supplied and can be refitted if preferred.


This outstanding example is accompanied with a comprehensive leather-bound history file, clearly showing the exceptional care taken by past owners in the up-keep and maintenance of this car. Also included within the file, is the original and stamped service voucher book and owner’s handbook, service and maintenance invoices to date and MoT certificates, going back to 2001.


Complete with its original tool roll, spare keys, vehicle Jack and warning triangle, the sale includes an up-to-date manufacturer schedule service, a comprehensive health check list and detailed preparation to our usual high standards as well as a 12-month warranty.
