Description
1979 Aston Martin V8 Vantage
Finished in special order Ferrari Blu Ribot with Magnolia hide interior, piped dark Blue, with special order interior coloured hide dashboard and blue top roll.
With just 3 owners from new, this exceptional and uniquely coloured example has been meticulously maintained by Aston Martin in Newport Pagnell and recognised AM specialists throughout its life.
Ordered and delivered new via Nicholas Mee from Aston Martin Sales in January 1979, to Sussex resident Mr M J Solomans, this highly original and unspoilt V8 Vantage remained in Solomans care and ownership for some 6 years, prior to being re purchased and supplied to its second, again by Nicholas Mee at Aston Martin Sales, in December 1985, with only 12,000 miles recorded and finally, to it’s third and last owner in 2024, by Nicholas Mee & Company, with 49k miles recorded.
As a result of a recent deal, in which we accepted the Vantage in part exchange for another one of our showroom stock, we are delighted to now bring to market, for only the 3rd time in 47 years, this superb, highly original and prized example of the ‘Oscar India’ V8 Vantage.
Originally specified with a 5-speed manual transmission, as fitted, this example is 1 of just 44 built with the original Vantage 540 engine specifications and prior to the fitting of standard V8 saloon cylinder heads, thereafter. Much loved and cosseted by its previous, long term, UK based owner, during his 39 years of ownership and remaining in its original build specifications, this car was frequently shown at concours events and owners club meetings. With exception to a suspension upgrade and factory sports exhaust system, both fitted in period, this unspoilt and superbly original AM V8 Vantage, is one of the finest and most pleasing to drive examples, that we know of.
During the care of its last, Aston Martin enthusiast owner, much dedication has been applied with a series of sympathetic cosmetic improvement works, including a full body respray in original Ferrari Blu Ribot paint, full body PPF coverage with ceramic coating, new front footwell overmats, new tailored headrest cushions, professional interior refurbishment, of the original hides, by Connolly appointed experts and new Pirelli Cinturato tyres. Finally, a Blaupunkt Bremen head unit, with DAB and Bluetooth compatibility, along with upgraded amplifier and replacement speakers, have been fitted.
The condition of this motor car is now simply described as ‘Concours’.
Hailed by the motoring press as the UK’s first Supercar when launched in 1977, this AM V8 Vantage is accompanied with an exceptional history folder, containing the cars original build details, completed original service voucher book, original owner’s handbook, all service and maintenance invoices, factory correspondence, previous sales invoices, all past MoT certificates and all previous registration papers.
A ‘find’ for its next owner, this rare Vantage is complete with the original tool roll, original vehicle Jack, 2 sets of keys, a set of bespoke luggage and a copy of SuperClassics Magazine, from 1995, in which this motor car was tested by regular FullBore contributor, Peter Tomalin.
This magnificent V8 Vantage, quite possibly the finest of its type, is supplied fully prepared, to our usual exacting standards, serviced to schedule and inclusive of 12 months warranty and fresh MOT certificate.
Available for viewing and demonstration now at our Hertfordshire showrooms.
