We are excited to announce a new partnership with The Amalgam Collection and the arrival of two new models to feature in The Aston Store. Both models celebrate two iconic car models in Aston Martins rich history, The Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato and the Aston Martin DB5 Vantage.
Both models are 1:8 scale replicas of the original cars created by Aston Martin in the 60’s and are available for a limited time with just 199 models being produced each and available to order at The Aston Store.
Both the 1960’s DB5 Vantage and DB4 GT Zagato cars are iconic models in Aston Martins history with the DB5 being propelled to worldwide fame when used as James Bond’s car in the movie ‘Goldfinger,’ as well as a number of subsequent James Bond films, eventually spawning a special Aston Martin Works creation known as the Goldfinger Continuation that was built in 2020. The association with James Bond was a marketer’s dream, the perfect example of product placement, which nearly didn’t happen at all: Jaguar’s E-type was the preferred choice, but Jaguar turned EON down, and Aston Martin’s owner David Brown was also initially reluctant to supply a DB5. The rest is history, and James Bond’s gadget laden Silver Birch DB5 became an immortal silver screen phenomenon.
As for the DB4 GT Zagato, it was the first Aston Martin car to partner with Italian coach building company Zagato that created a powerful combination of British Aston Martin engineering, combined with Italian Zagato body design that led to a powerful partnership that has given birth to many extraordinary cars since the 1960s, but none more beautiful and valuable than the Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato, to which only 19 examples were ever built.
Amalgam are recognised worldwide as makers of the finest hand-made large scale models. These models are handcrafted and finished in Amalgam’s workshops with the co-operation and assistance of Aston Martin regarding original finishes, materials, archive imagery and drawings. The use of original CAD and supremely accurate digital scanning of the original car has allowed Amalgam to perfectly recreate every detail at scale.
