MEE SPEAK - OCTOBER 2015

Long shadows, long nights and the SPECTRE of autumn lay ahead, but at NM&Co we were ready for the premiers of new models as well as older cars heading for our workshops for the oft put-off out-of-season re-fresh. To help brighten the increasingly dark evenings we’ll be watching the latest Bond movie, released later this month, and featuring Aston’s newest model as well as a familiar face too...

Looking back, it’s been both fun and interesting to reflect on this summer’s events. From the Goodwoods to Le Mans, and from the AMOC concours to Salon Privé, there can be little doubt about the popularity of classic and modern classic cars today. Maybe it’s just me, but every new or nearly new car I’ve driven recently has been disappointing for its driver involvement, even if superbly competent. Modern electronics and driver aids, not to mention emission ‘defeat’ systems, all contribute toward robbing the tactile experience a sporting classic gives its pilot. Progress, yes, but stimulating? I’m not sure.

Speaking of which, I’ve been quite excited recently by an ‘86 V8 EFi now back in stock after 11 years. This is a car we lavished attention on in 2004, improving its dynamics and performance.

Now, when’s that new Bond movie coming out?

Evocative in BRG with dark green hides, this re-acquaintance has re-energised my love affair with the robust and highly useable Newport Pagnell V8s.

Other news this month includes a new alliance we’ve forged with the renowned Windrush Car Storage Ltd. Concierge storage of high quality cars has long been a problem for London residents, but no more as Windrush has recently opened a new, highly secure and climatically stable facility which we’re only too pleased to recommend. To find out more about their services and location, click here. There really is a no more secure or better-managed facility in London.
